GULF BANK, formerly Rural Bank of Lingayen, Inc., was founded in 1956.  In 1995, the bank adopted GULF BANK as its business name to better reflect its objectives and on-going expansion but retaining its corporate name.  In the same year, the microfinance credit program was introduced and a modified micro-lending program was implemented in 1999.

Gulf Bank has earned the title Most Outstanding Rural Bank in Region 1 for eight (8) consecutive years since 2003 to 2010 from Land Bank of the Philippines.
